Using AI in Music Submitted to Partum

Partum Arts Music accepts music involving artificial intelligence for review. If AI was used in creating a track, you must declare it accurately when uploading your release. Distribution, availability, recommendations and monetization can vary by platform and remain subject to Partum review, applicable rights and each digital service provider’s current policies.

How Partum classifies AI use

Choose the classification that most accurately describes each submitted track.

Human Created, No AI

Choose this when the creative content of the track was created by people and you did not use an AI feature to generate or materially create part of the lyrics, composition, vocals, instrumentation, production, mixing or mastering.

Normal use of recording software, instruments, plugins or ordinary digital effects does not by itself make a track AI-assisted. What matters is whether an AI feature was actually used in the creation or processing of the submitted track.

Human Created, AI-Assisted

Choose this when people remain responsible for the creative work and performance, but an AI-powered feature assisted part of the process without generating a substantive creative element that became part of the track.

AI-assisted mixing or mastering
Noise or audio cleanup and intelligent restoration
AI-assisted stem separation
Production or arrangement suggestions
Other AI processing where the underlying musical performance or creative material remains human-created

Human Created with AI-Generated Elements

Choose this when the track is principally created and directed by people, but one or more creative elements included in the finished recording were generated by AI.

Generated lyrics or lyric passages
Generated melodies, harmonies, instrumental parts or stems
Generated beats or musical passages
Synthetic or generated vocals
Generated sound elements selected, edited, arranged or combined by the artist

Fully AI-Generated

Choose this when the principal musical content was produced as a complete or substantially complete work through generative AI, with human involvement mainly consisting of prompting, selecting, directing or making limited edits to the generated result.

Where AI was used

For every classification other than Human Created, No AI, select every AI Used In category that applies to the track.

Lyrics: Generated or materially AI-assisted lyrical content.
Composition: Melody, harmony, chord progressions, structure or other compositional material.
Vocals: Generated, cloned, transformed or synthetic vocal performances.
Instrumentation: Generated instrumental performances, stems or accompaniment.
Production: Beat generation, arrangement, sound design or other production work.
Mixing / Mastering: AI-assisted mixing, mastering, restoration or technical processing.
Other: Material AI involvement that does not accurately fit the listed categories.

Supporting Documents

Supporting Documents are optional only when every track in the release is declared Human Created, No AI.

If any track is declared Human Created, AI-Assisted, Human Created with AI-Generated Elements, or Fully AI-Generated, at least one Supporting Document is required before the release can proceed.

Partum requires Supporting Documents when AI involvement is declared so that we can review the declared use of AI, applicable rights and relevant rightsholder context before distribution.

Evidence may include

The name of the AI tool or service used
Screenshots, project history or generation history helping explain the creative process
Subscription, licence or terms evidence relevant to commercial-use rights
Permission or licence evidence for generated or cloned voices
Sample, beat, stem or third-party source licences
Collaborator or rightsholder permissions
Other evidence Partum requests during review

Provide evidence relevant to your particular release. Partum may request additional information. Files may apply to the entire release or a specific Track and must be PDF, JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB per file.

Rights, copyright and permissions

AI use does not remove your responsibility to hold all rights, licences, permissions and authorizations necessary to distribute the final recording and its underlying content.

AI output must not unlawfully reproduce protected recordings, compositions or other protected material.
Using an AI generator does not automatically establish commercial distribution rights; check the applicable terms or licence of every AI service you use.
Samples, source recordings, stems and other third-party materials remain subject to applicable rights.
Partum may request evidence of ownership, licence or authorization.

Partum's review is not a determination that copyright exists in AI-generated material or that a particular AI output is legally protectable in every country.

AI voices, cloning and artist identity

Do not use AI to clone, imitate or represent the identifiable voice, likeness or identity of another artist or person without the necessary authorization.

Do not submit a release under another artist's name or profile, or use metadata that falsely implies that another artist performed on, created, approved or endorsed the recording.

Where a synthetic or cloned voice is legitimately authorized, declare the AI involvement accurately and retain documentation proving the relevant permission. Some DSPs may apply separate rules or labels where the public artist identity itself is AI-generated.

Metadata, spam and streaming fraud

Use AI responsibly. It must not be used to:

Create deceptive releases or impersonate artists
Manipulate metadata or perform keyword or SEO manipulation
Flood platforms with duplicate, repetitive or low-value uploads
Artificially inflate streams or use bots or other streaming manipulation
Divert royalties or exploit DSP systems

DSP availability, discovery and monetization

Passing Partum review does not guarantee that every DSP will accept, keep live, recommend, label or monetize a release.

Acceptance: Whether the DSP permits the recording.
Availability: Whether the recording remains available.
Labelling: Whether the DSP applies an AI-related indication.
Discovery: Recommendations, personalized surfaces or editorial programming.
Monetization: Whether qualifying activity results in royalty attribution.

Platform-specific AI rules

The following summaries describe current policies as of 6 September 2026, not permanent guarantees.

Spotify

Spotify supports increasingly granular AI contribution disclosure and credits, including supplied details about vocals, lyrics, instrumentation, production and related contributions. It prohibits unauthorized vocal impersonation and combats AI-enabled spam, mass uploads, duplicates and deceptive behavior. Spotify has also introduced AI Persona identification for AI-generated public artist identities and applies separate recommendation treatment to AI Personas.

TIDAL

TIDAL accepts AI-generated music subject to its policy requirements, identifies or tags recordings it determines are wholly AI-generated, and applies higher content-integrity standards. It can block or remove fraudulent, deceptive or impersonating content.

TIDAL does not attribute royalties to recordings it identifies as wholly AI-generated.

Deezer

Deezer detects and tags AI-generated content, excludes detected AI-generated music from algorithmic recommendations and takes action against AI content tied to streaming fraud. It has announced removal treatment for certain generative-AI tracks, including fraud-related content and qualifying inactive AI tracks.

YouTube / YouTube Music

Music-partner delivery

YouTube supports delivered-music GenAI disclosure categories such as Fully Gen AI, Partly Gen AI and No Gen AI.

Direct YouTube creator uploads

YouTube separately maintains a creator disclosure workflow for AI-generated or meaningfully AI-altered content, with AI-generated music among its examples. These are separate disclosure mechanisms: a Partum declaration does not automatically complete every direct YouTube Studio obligation.

Other DSPs

Other DSPs may rely on their general content, copyright, identity, fraud and metadata requirements or may maintain AI rules that are not publicly documented at the same level of detail. Their requirements can change independently.

Partum review and corrections

Partum may review AI declarations and Supporting Documents before delivery. Where information is incomplete, inconsistent or insufficient, Partum may request clarification or additional evidence, return the release for correction, restrict delivery where applicable requirements prevent delivery, or decline distribution where applicable rights or compliance cannot be established.

An AI declaration does not automatically mean that a release will be rejected.

Policy sources and updates

Digital service providers may maintain their own rules for AI-generated or AI-assisted music, including requirements affecting disclosure, availability, recommendations, monetization, identity, fraud prevention and continued distribution. The following first-party DSP resources are provided for transparency and may change independently of Partum Arts Music.

These external policies are provided for transparency and may be changed by their respective platforms. Partum's submission requirements remain those stated on this page and in the Upload Music workflow.

AI distribution policies are developing quickly. DSPs may change their requirements after a release has been delivered. This can affect labelling, recommendations, monetization, continued availability or future deliveries.

Partum may update this guidance and may contact affected artists where a material downstream policy change requires action on a release.
